Record Store Day 2025
Another go 'round with the cavalcade of exclusive releases!
We are a couple of months away from the 18th edition of Record Store Day, but as usual we’ve been getting early messages concerning titles, ordering, procedure and the like. Here is the usual spiel for the newly anointed vinyl hoard members and a refresher for the rest of you.
The event this year will be on Saturday April 12th. The store in Fredericton will be opening at 8am (check the social media of other Backstreet / Taz branches for their hours).
The (currently) official list of what should be available to us can be found here at the Record Store Day Canada website. Be aware that there are titles listed elsewhere that are likely only available in the US or Europe, so this Canadian list is the one that is most reliable.
Most titles are exclusive to RSD and limited to some degree. They are only available on the day of the event and cannot be held or pre-paid for in any manner. It is a first-come, first-served scenario. These are not available except in indie shops and will not be sold online until the days after the event.
While you can’t pre-order the titles to be held, we do appreciate when folks send us lists of titles they are hoping to see on the day, as this helps us decide quantities to order… and we don’t order every title automatically, generally just those we expect will be in demand, so your input might be the difference between a title being ordered or not.
